About Course

Yaksha Prashna, also known as the Dharma Baka Upakhyana: Story of the Righteous Crane or the Akshardham, an enlightening conversation between Yudhishtra, the eldest brother of Pandava, and a celestial entity named Yaksha, goes beyond being a mere episode in the Mahabharata. This captivating dialogue beautifully celebrates intelligence and fairness.

The Mahabharata, an ancient Indian epic revolves around two groups of cousins. With their eyes set on the throne of Hastinapura, the Pandavas (Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva) and the Kauravas engage in an epic power struggle.

The Vana Parva, also known as the "Book of the Forest," is a significant part of the ancient Indian epic, Mahabharata. This third book delves into the compelling narrative of the Pandavas and their wife Draupadi, as they endure twelve years of exile in the forest.

"Yaksha Prashna” is one of the significant episodes of Mahabharata. This captivating tale revolves around a thought-provoking exchange of questions and answers between Yama, disguised as a Yaksha, and the wise Yudhishthira. Remarkably, Yama presents a series of 126 challenging questions, only to be met with Yudhishthira's astutely fitting responses. The background of the story is something like this.

While living in exile in the forest Yudhishthira made a shocking discovery. While trying to drink water from a nearby lake, he found out that all of his brothers had been killed by a Yaksha, a celestial unknown entity. The Yaksha then challenged Yudhisthira to answer all of his questions, warning him of the same fate as his brothers if he failed to do so. The questions and answers were like Vedic sutras, brief, practical, and focused on piety and religiosity.
