About Course
Have you questioned why some nights bring deep rest, while others leave you tossing and turning? Come, let’s explore the science behind sound sleep and the impact of daily habits – ‘Dincharya’, on the quality of sleep.
Sleep isn't a luxury; it's an integral part of the body's mental and physical well-being. Unfortunately, it's often underappreciated until we face difficulties in getting it. Whether it's occasional poor sleep or chronic sleep problems, understanding the various factors influencing sleep, from medical conditions to sleep disorders and mental health, is crucial.
The National Sleep Foundation prescribes seven to nine hours of nightly sleep for adults aged 18-64. Shockingly, between 10% and 30% of adults struggle with insomnia, while 2% – 9% suffer from obstructive sleep apnea. Women consistently report poorer sleep quality, facing disruptions across various life stages compared to men. Equally alarming, 89% of adults and 75% of children have at least one electronic device in their bedrooms. These statistics serve as a wake-up call and demand our immediate attention.
In the realm of sleep disorders, Ayurveda offers a unique perspective; it views sleep disorders through the lens of an imbalance in the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Vata-driven insomnia, Pitta-induced fiery dreams, or Kapha-related lethargy—all find resonance in Ayurvedic philosophy.
